Numbers growing – where will the patients be hosted?!

The number of coronavirus patients is growing drastically every day – new records are broken in the number of new infections and deaths due to COVID-19. A few days ago, representatives of the University Hospital in Krakow informed that there are no more places in their facility for those infected with the dangerous virus. The director of the hospital, Marcin Jędrychowski, even suggested thinking about creating temporary hospital rooms in such facilities as, for example, Tauron Arena.

“If it were up to me, I would think about which school in Krakow or the amphitheater hall in Krakow, or possibly even in the Tauron Arena, we should prepare potential beds for potential patients at this point. And we are still taking steps to create a certain number of beds within the existing hospitals” – said Jędrychowski on TVN24. He emphasized that hospital beds for COVID-19 patients are filling up “before they are even built”.

More beds needed!

Meanwhile, the government recently announced an increase in the number of available beds by a further several thousand. “The number of beds occupied by COVID-19 patients is 4138, which is over 4,000. The number of beds available today is over 9 thousand, 9.5 thousand. We are currently carrying out activities that will cause the number of available beds to increase by several thousand in the next few days”, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Thursday, October 8.
